Dr. Kelley’s educational background includes post-doctoral work at the Harvard Business School, Ph.D. from Colorado State University, M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and B.A. from Drake University. He also studied in Rome, Italy.

He has been a senior management consultant with the Stanford Research Institute, a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Business School, worked for the consulting division of Ernst and Young, and since 1979, runs his own consulting business. Currently, he splits his time between teaching, writing, and consulting.

Dr. Kelley is a Distinguished Service Professor at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, ranked by the Wall Street Journal as one of the best MBA programs in the world. He is consistently rated one of the top teachers and was nominated by students for Carnegie Mellon University’s Doherty Teaching Prize. For 25 years, he has leveraged his leading-edge research to pioneer a series of innovative courses that premiered at Tepper, including:

For fun, Kelley sings a cappella, plays basketball with his kids and students, runs in beautiful Pittsburgh parks, volunteers with his therapy dog at local hospitals and universities, and travels internationally with his family
